As Tim crisscrossed the country doing his comedy club act, he would often bring home regional craft beers that were not available in Michigan. He would set up shop on Sunday nights in his garage and the guys in the neighborhood (the Tenny Street Boyz) would come over and taste and rate the bounty. Soon Tim was discovering Michigan craft beers in various quantities at his local store. Each week was a new adventure in beer tasting. Each of the Boyz had their own preference (Joe loves Belgians, Ray enjoys IPAs and Greg was into whatever you put in front of him) and we swapped beers and stories long into the night. Sunday nights on Tenny Street were soon legendary and the cast of regulars grew each week. During one holiday season, we held a 'beer exchange,' 24 guys with 24 different cases of beer much like a 'cookie exchange,' only better. Each person went home with an interesting selection of specialty beers to enjoy.
Brigid loves to throw parties and is a gracious hostess. If you walk away from the house hungry, that's pretty much your fault. She is known for her special beer and food pairings and has kept the Tenny Street Boyz full. She has thrown wine tasting parties (with the vineyard owners from Italy!), graduation parties, Stanley Cup parties with the Stanley Cup in attendance (okay, not the real Stanley Cup but a very close facsimile...), staff parties and even parties that Tim doesn't know about. You don't want to be late -- you may have to wear the 'hat of shame.'
The 8° Plato Beer Company is an extension of us hosting a party everyday. We will have the best selection of Michigan craft and other regional beers, imports and Belgians as well other non-traditional beers. We will carry artisan cheeses and sausages and we will have the ability to pair these foods with your beer. Serving dishes, glassware and other antique beer and bar collectables can be found at our store and you might even find a bottle of wine or two. The best thing you will find at the 8° Plato Beer Company is our service. We want to know you by your first name and we want to hear your story. We want to build a beer community.
